Social Studies 11 is considered the "touchstone" for further examination into the discipline. Rather than just concentrating on one aspect of the area like history or geography, Socials 11 attempts to provide a comprehensive look at a variety of topics. This broad view is intended to not only allow students to examine many different parts of the discipline, but also to let them identify if there are any other areas that they would like to pursue farther.
Starting in 2018, the course of Socials 11 essentially ceases to exist, and instead students will have a wealth of options to choose from including: Human and Physical Geography, Genocide Studies, Philosophy, Law, World Religions, History, Comparative Civilizations, and Urban Planning among others.
Included within the discipline of Social Studies will be discussion, research, reading, analysis and critical thinking.
